Channel your inner-Rembrandt at our Old World Botanical Drawing Class.

This workshop, sponsored by the Friends of the Seaside Library, takes place at 1:00 p.m on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Local artist and illustrator, Dorota Haber-Lehigh, will discuss the realm of old world drawing.  Participants will learn how to create a miniature botanical drawing.

The class will be drawing from observation and everyone is encouraged to bring a small rose hip, acorn, maple samsara or small seed pod.

Dorota will focus on basic pencil techniques for blending and layering colors;  she will also demonstrate how to achieve form through the delicate balance of light and dark tones.

Colored pencils on walnut ink stained paper mimics the antiqued look of old world documents.

This class is open to all levels.

Dorota Haber-Lehigh received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific University with a focus on printmaking and art history.  She designed, illustrated and published the children’s books, “ABC of Native Plants of the Coastal Pacific Northwest”  and "Creatures of Haystack Rock."  Ms. Haber-Lehigh is currently at work on additional books about native berries and wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest.

She is also a member of the Oregon Botanical Artists and the Native Plant Society of Oregon.

The course is free, however, registration is required.  Sign up at the library or call 503-738-6742 to reserve a seat.
