MARCH 1, 2019
“EXPRESSIONISM” ABSTRACT PAINTINGS BY REBECCA HERREN
AT SEASIDE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Beginning March 5, and running through April 23, 2019 the Seaside Public Library will be exhibiting paintings by local artist, Rebecca Herren. The paintings will hang in the Community Room and the foyer.
On the north coast of Oregon, just south of the Columbia River, artist Rebecca Herren creates her take on impressionist paintings. Her beautiful pieces combine brush strokes, spontaneous drips and splatters, that merge to create motion that refuses to be contained. Her work features a vibrant color pallet, on canvas, that blends staying improvisational with always being in control of the paint flow. She says, “to find your niche in art is a constant study, and evolves as one grows. “My goal as a painter is to create works of art that resonate what the viewer is experiencing.”
Rebecca Herren grew up in Nevada and attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she majored in psychology and art. She went on to graduate with honors from Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She started drawing at a young age and won an art contest to the Art Institute of Chicago at the age of 10. But, because of her age, she could not accept the offer. As an art student at UNLV, she was introduced to abstract art and became receptive to this awe-inspiring style.
